Help! They're all gone

So my Dendrobium orchid was doing very well when i brought it home from Hawaii. It is still just a seedling and after doing some research, i don't believe it will bloom for two to three years. Unfortunately, I went away for about three weeks over christmas, and i had a friend plant sit. When she gave them back to me, my orchid's leaves were becoming brown. Today, all but one of them fell off and the one that is still on looks like its going to fall off any day. I uploaded some pictures and I was wondering if someone could help me out with how to bring my plant back! Anything would be helpful.

It looks way too wet to me! I can't tell which kind of Den it is (one that needs a winter rest or not) but even if its not one that should be completely dry, I don't think it should be completely wet either.

Is the top of the cane soft and mushy? Get those roots out of the pot and let them dry off. If there are any roots left that aren't brown and mushy, repot it and keep it on the dry-ish side until you see new root growth.

Let us know how the roots are, and we can go from there...

I took it out of the pot and let it dry. i cut off a few of the dead roots, but i'm not sure if there are anymore dead on it or not. I repotted it into a coarser medium here's a picture of the roots.

The roots look okay to me. It's hard to give specific advice without knowing which Den it is. Hopefully, it's a deciduous 'chid and losing it's leaves is normal. Keep an eye on it for signs of new growths at the bottom of that cane. Most Dens like high light and keep it a little dryer than it looked in the first pics. Even if it's not a 'chid that should get a winter rest, most chids should have some sort of reduction in water during the winter months.
