Discoloration on underside of Zygo leaves

Hey everyone,

I was checking out my 'chids tonight, and I noticed some odd discoloration on the underside of the leaves on my Zygo. Advance Australia. It's just the bottom--the tops of the leaves are as glossy green as ever.




I had heard sometimes Zygos can get black spots/streaking--is that what this is? Is it anything to worry about?

I nearly killed this guy when I got him a few months ago. I plopped him right into S/H, thinking since it was potted in pure sphag it would be okay. Well, I lost nearly all the roots, but the pbs have stopped shriveling and it's got a new growth that plugging away (slowly). So what do you think? Should I be concerned?

I'm not exactly the person to ask or answer but what i can tell you is that I have a Zygo hybrid with A LOT of the common black spotting on the leaves (came from Seattle Orchids that way). What you have here is much like what I have on some of my leaves as well.

My plant seems good though the only thing I'm watching is that a spike I just had browned and died but other than that the growth it spiked from seems alright. Hopefully someone more knowledge will chime in but from what I've seen it may well just be the normal streaking. I've been told to keep water off the leaves and provide good air circulation.

Thanks, Lotis, I hope they are just the regular streaking! It was weird to me that it was only on the bottom and not the top too.

Glad to hear yours is doing okay despite the discoloration!

I usually get the spots on the top of the leaves. Just to be on the safe side, make certain it isn't spidermite.
