Certain genera should not have certain chemicals? Right?!!!

Hello all,
It's me again with a question for the Dendro owners
Ok in my readings I noticed certain types of genera were not allowed certain fertiilizers, and certain 'CIDES.
I have dendros both noble and the other kind something oval cane. Also I Prosthechea Baculus(believe it's an epidendrium. Are these safe to use a chem from Bonide with copper in it(product name - Infuse) if you can get to me soon it's my watering day

Do you have a name for the "oval cane" Den? If so, it may help members know what type of Den it is. From description alone, latouria, maybe ?

There is no fertilizer that "cannot be used" on some plants. I believe you are confusing the fact that plants needing a "rest", like the nobile dendrobiums, need an extended period in which they get no nitrogen. Once they emerge from dormancy and are growing again, feed away.

Pesticides are another matter altogether, and copper compounds seems to be one of the better ones to discuss.

Copper sulfate, for example, can be a very effective herbicide. it is, however, the active ingredient in Phyton products, which are systemic fungicides and bactericides. Some plants are very tolerant of it; others are not. I've often heard that "thin leaved" plants are less tolerant, as are some dens. I've heard that for Physan too, which is not a copper chemical.

Your Anacheilium baculus (the current name, I believe) should tolerate copper compounds well, but I have to ask - why are you wanting to apply any?

Copper based chemical spray (many fungicides have copper in them) are not to be used on dendrobiums.
That's all I know.

I have tried sulfur based product and neem oil based product on my paphs. These are ones from Home Depot and they are 3-1 type of spray.

Paphs from the parvi sections almost always had severe side effects, showing many dark brown marks and even death of entire leaf within a few days after spraying.
Maudiae type hybrids seem affected with the same stuff that I used.
I used the same stuff on my venustum and it showed minimum stress. a few small brown spots here and there.
So I do not use them on my parvis anymore.

Copper and Dens don't mix, though one treatment usually won't kill them on the spot.

Else, thin leaves or roots can easily be burned.

And most chemicals if used at temps higher than 25°C will cause problems whatever the genera.
