Help!! Spider mites? Spots!!
Default Help!! Spider mites? Spots!!

Does anyone know what these are and how to get rid of them? Infected a couple of my plants. Doesn't seem to interfere with the blooming but m terrified this will spread. I suspect spider mites. Been spraying w neem oil and other natural insecticide fungicide mixes but not quite doing it. I hv some miticide by Bayer which I used once or twice but didn't really seem to help.

Is it only on the top of the one leaf? Will the "spots" in the center of the leaf at the base flick off with your fingernail?

No they dont quite flick off. need to scratch them off aggressively so I have resorted to cutting entire leaves off

Some of the problem might be scale but that usually comes off fairly easily and generally adhers to the surface of the leaf, although the effects can sometimes be seen on the reverse. I would find a systemic insecticide suitable for use on Phals for a thorough 2x spray. I use Bayer 3 and 1 for mites and insects on my Cyms, zygos, dends and masdies, but I have no experience with using it on other genera.

If the plant is valuable enough, I would test for virus.

Isolate these plants in any case until you find the cause and cure, if possible. If they are not that valuable and can be replaced, I would seriously consider doing it so as not to infect your other plants.

Hard scale. Try rubbing alcohol.
