Cattleya leaf problem (virus)?
Default Cattleya leaf problem (virus)?

Hello everyone,
I am hoping someone may be able to identify this leaf problem that has recently developed on my Cattleya (i think it is a cattleya).

A few days ago I brought the cattleya's indoors into my very well lit laundry along with some other orchids as it looked as tho something had been eating at the leaves. I sprayed the Cattleya with a Yates anti rot systemic fungicide (phosacid systemic fungicide ), more as a preventative as i had to drench a few cybidiums that had root rot so i just sprayed all of the orchids at that point the plant didn't look this bad.

Could someone make some suggestions on what to do.
I acquired the plant recently from my beloved late mother i am unsure of when it was last repotted it didn't appear to have any problems when i got it, apart from being a very dark green.

Looks like ordinary rot. Treating it with a fungicide is correct. These spots don't indicate a virus, although that doesn't mean that the plant is virus free. It looks like a catt, but I can't be sure.

if you look at the base of some of the bulbs they are black.
black rot. Cattleyas are particularly susceptible.

you should cut off the infected material then drench it in fungicide.

that ones not well

oh no poor orchid
thank you very much.
is the yates anti rot phosacid systemic fungicide suitable ? it says it treats crown rot, phytopthora root rot and downy mildew.

How far apart should treatments be ?
Do i need to repot at all ?

Kind regards.
Tara

From what I can see, it looks somewhat over-potted, which may contribute to the problem. When you re-pot, give it some open airy media in a pot not much larger than what the roots require to fit.
