Default More Strange Spots - Chlorotic? On a Miltonidium.

I purchased a Mtdm. Pacific Paragon 'Maillot Jaune' about a month ago and noticed recently these lighter colored dots all over the leaves on the newest growth. I guess they look like Chlorotic spots, they are lighter green but not clear, no halo or dark spot. They are within the leaf, not raised or sunken or anything, and show through on both sides of the leaf. They are not on the older leaves, just the newest and did seem to appear after I moved it into more sun, eastern on a screen porch in the morning. Does this look like anything specific to anyone? I haven't found pics of the same looking on the web yet, which means I maybe just haven't found them yet of course. I have checked extensively for bugs and can find no indication of any at all. Nothing else around it has these spots or any signs of bus either. It appears to be part of the leaf cell through, not like anything sucked or munched it.

Thanks!

Here is another pic, can't attach more than one for some reason. There is a little water on the leaf in the pic above by the way.

I don't know if it is a fungus or a virus but here are two sites with really great pictures. The orchid society in Florida seems to answer questions if you email them.

Orchid Pests, Orchid Diseases

I don't know if it's even a disease, it could be light change adaptation from the new leaf, and it'll disappear after a while, or a sign of diet unbalance…

A fungus would be heading to dead/spore laden zone evidently at one point.

A virus would be on old leaves first.

Most leaf spot diseases need water on the leaves or very high humidity for a prolonged period of time (12 to 24 hours) to start the infection. Leaf spots often mature in one to two weeks. At this point each leaf spot produces spores or bacteria that can be spread throughout the plant, starting a second set of leaf spots, or causing new infections on other plant.

The worst you can do if it is leaf spot is fertilize it.

Fungicides are protectant not a cure and need to be applied before symptoms are present. (yay).

Bacterial leaf spot would turn brown and create a hole in the leaf or a dimple.

I dont think its disease either. Looks more like a situation created by misting the leaves. If you use water thats too cold....uh uh cold water will spot your leaves

Worst case: If the yellow spots start to streak and turn black, then leaves fall off then you may have a micro-fungus.

Thanks everybody. I think I will just keep an eye on it for now. Hopefully it is something simple like change in sun or cold rain blowing in to covered porch (which is possible) or something. I have still not noticed any change in the spots at all so we'll see.

Hello Ginger,
I just bought this same orchid at HDepot. Guess what??? Mine has those spots too. I did not notice them in the store, but when I got home and gave it a drink of water as it was very thirsty, I noticed them.
Please let me know if you find out anything new, and I will do the same.
Karen

This is my first Mtdm. So now I have to learn about it.

Wow Karen, yes, mine came from HD also. Given we are both in FL I bet it's the same grower even. Very interesting! I immediately panic thinking virus, but it was mentioned above that would show on the oldest growth first. Mine is only on the newest still growing bulb, is yours only on newest growth also? I'm still hoping it is increased sun exposure, cold water spray, or something harmless. They seem like harmless spots to me, no change in them. It does go down onto the actual pseudo bulb a little.

This is my first Mtdm. also and I'm still very much a beginner with the Oncidium alliance so I'm still learning. I'll be sure to mention if anything happens with it. I'm having trouble finding much specific to Mtdm. but I am keeping in mind I think it has Miltoniopsis in it, which generally means cooler and moisture.
