Go out around 10:00 PM with a flashlight and examine very carefully all around the plant. Snails work at night and I have found quite a few this way.
We have a type of grasshopper here that is very big and very voracious. I squash every one I see. I sort of hate to because they are very pretty, but, they don't need to eat my orchids.
