Default Disease on my Dendrobium?

OK This photo looks bad. The leaf at the top is the oldest leaf on the oldest cane. The leaf at the bottom is on one of about 4 new growths and doesn't have a mark on it. - Lush and green. In general the plant is very skinny and looks unhealthy, although most of my other soft canes look much more plump.

Anyone know what's wrong? I thought a virus but the new growths are totally unaffected. I thought bugs so i sprayed it. The canes do look soft and mushy in parts so maybe also a fungus.

Not much of a clue as to what it may be - but my first thought would have been bugs as well because of the pattern of brown marks.

Maybe just removing the affected leaves (as the plants likely to shed them anyway) will help prevent whatever it is from spreading to the new growths?

As for the canes, is it all of the canes showing softness/mushiness, or just the old ones?

I'd remove the bad leaves and spray the plant with Listerine...not the minty stuff

Are the bad leaves only on the softer canes? If so, it reminds me of a huge plant I saved...take it out of the pot, remove the soft canes altogether and spray the root area well with the Listerine, then repot into fresh media. I thought my plant was a goner but I was able to get it back on track and now it's thriving!

Here's the story:
Baffled!

and here's the plant today
