hello fellow orchid lovers! just wanted to pop back in and let yall know how my little white noid phal's doing from this thread a few months back:
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...al-leaves.html
it has completely recovered!! i want to thank everyone again for all the helpful suggestions and advice. i never did figure out what caused all those spots on the bottom leaves, but they did not spread to the new growth OR to the any of the other phals. i wasn't really sure how to treat this little guy, so i elected to do nothing but just watch & wait. i did pull it out and check the roots (which looked totally healthy) and since it was already out, repotted it into fresh bark and slightly bigger pot.
my best guess is that it suffered some kind of cold exposure over the winter before the new growth emerged, and then the damage just took a while to develop. i've read a little bit about cell collapse and it seems to me that this is prolly the most likely scenario of what happened. we had a *really* cold winter here in east tn last yr, and this guy along with another phal sat on my nightstand inches from a window. i suspect that's how this little guy got hurt. the other phal was unaffected. so, i have since moved this phal to a different location where it's not as close to a window.
it seems in this instance that not treating was the best course to take.
this is the same phal today:
