Default Black streaks on Cattleya forbesii

This C. forbesii was imported when Ecuagenera did a show a few days ago. When I received the plants, the box was a little beaten but the plants were in good shape for the most part, except for a somewhat beaten Catasetum expansum. Otherwise, there were no problems. However today I saw the leaves on one of the growths of the forbesii looking like this. I'm wondering if the plant didn't get a little bit cooked in shipping. The plants were actually hot when I opened the box, I must be so smart to ship plants in late of july in Georgia. Oh well. Could I get some opinions? After looking through the 5 pages of results that came up when i searched "cattleya black leaves", nothing seemed to adequately match.

Edit: 2 things I forgot to mention, which may or may not be of help: a) the growth with the markings is neither the oldest nor the newest, b) when I unwraped it, the flower buds on the newest growth had fallen out of the package. This, to me, is more proof of heat damage.

It doesn't look like your plants got cooked by the heat, although the heat probably didn't do much good. If the plant got cooked, the leaves would turn white, then black & would have fallen off by now. The 2 leaves with the dark marks have experienced some cell collapse & over time they might turn black.

It's not surprising that the buds fell off. In preparing for shipping to the US, foreign vendors need to remove all media from roots (with some exceptions for some phal & dendrobium types). To meet the show schedule, plants were probably stripped at least 1-1/2 weeks ago, cleaned, dried, packed in boxes, shipped as freight or accompanying luggage. Upon arrival in the US, the plants needed to be unpacked & inspected before being released.

Then the vendors had to sort & repack the plants for mailing to customers such as yourself. The US mail takes a few days, at least. Depending on the media in which the plants were grown, stripping the plants could do lots of damage to the roots. In any case, the plants have been without water for a while. The heat can cause some desiccation also. It's expected that the buds would fall off. But the plant should be ok, even if it should lose the 2 leaves. In the middle photo, the undersides of a couple other leaves show a little stress & cell collapse … but not as bad yet. Your plant just needs to heal & grow new roots.
