Cyrtocidium with black spots, or virus
Hello all,
Have another question about one of my Onc mixes, I think he relapsed.
Purchase this guy late April and he can in with small tiny black spots. treated him for three weeks with Natria and all seem to be well and good. I got two spikes on him already with just a couple flowers but all black as can be. I must have sat him to close to the window and he got a sunburn. Well it's a couple days now and his black spots have reemerged to become black rings and quite large. I'm wondering if I should have some concern for this! I guess under stressful circumstances these guys can bring a virus back is the way I understand it, like it lays dormant until something happens, not sure if I have that info right. So I was wondering if any of you had any input all would be appreciated
Thank you in advance

Looks like natural leaf die off, tho I'm not sue about the spots... Is it just those two leaves that are affected?

No the little spots are all over, but these rings are on those leaves which have dropped since last post

I'm not familiar with this genus, but many Onc. alliance are rather prone to leaf spotting. In many instances, it doesn't harm the plant.

Ok that is good to. Since I made original post, I have taken it outside and did very light misting of the bayer natria 3in1, it has made a turn, the spotted yellowing leaves have fallen off, but side sheath is still on. The color has even changed to a more agreeable green, but bulbs remain wrinkled.
What does one do with the side sheaths. As in this case the yellow one on back bulb and on the one that threw a spike out. Does this get yanked twisted, scissor cut or scalpeled? And to the length, do I remove all of sheath to rootball
Thank You

The dead bract ? I pull them off when they come off fairly easily - that's usually when they are all dried up

oncidium ring spot virus or orchid fleck virus. Watch your orchid carefully. Very contagious.
