Well, as in all things in life, focus and patience are pivotal, esp re living beings. The goal here would be, to get rid of the rotted parts, retain the healthy part, pot the remainder properly, learn to tend it properly over time and just let it reclaim health and vigor. It will take time for the plant to get to the point where it makes more vegetative growth......so it will be a bit before it reaches the size to finally bloom. But, the goodies truly are in the journey! You will earn serious growing chops during this one!

Okay I've gotten most of rocks away from the root ball.. I have finally gotten down to where there is a rhizome. I think that this may have happened once or twice before, because there was four cuts on the rhizome like maybe there was five or six bolbs on this one rhizome at one time.
I'm not sure if this is going to work because the one bulb is just about as loose as what I just took off. It's interesting because the way I have it in my hand seems like a very natural way would be. But here we go.

I would do pretty much the same as you were advised. These don't like to get bone dry but shouldn't be overly wet all the time either. Remember, those old pseudo bulbs will likely not plump up again, so don't over water in an effort to make them do so. Hopefully one of the two will put out a new growth. A new growth should remain plump until it is replaced with newer ones. Some kelp when you water might help promote a new growth and new roots.

Thank you Silken, I think I know now what is happening!
After working on Onc mix with JMNYC spent some time and actually went through my collection and noticed something. I am actually having a very hard time with the Onc genus. I think I'm having a couple of issues, whether it be disease or just the plane culture of this family. I am definitely noticing in my house it is very hard to keep things damp. I also might need to change my mix for this Genus as well.
I was under the impression this guy that I took care of today was being a little over watered but as I look around at some of the other Onc/Ond mixes, none of which seem to be too happy at all, other than one which would be the Miltassia Golden Spider 'Copius', which seems to be in Spike at this moment. But out of the 4 buds one has been blasted as well he still has never gotten rid of his necrotic blotches.
Yeah got me stumped. More later have a good night all and thanks for the input.

Hey! Celebrate you are now focusing, seeing all that's there and learning! That's huge in all of life! Fine rooted orchids, including ojcidium hubrids, mostly like to be fully drenched, or drenched and fertilized, and then allowed to dry. Observing the conditin of the bulbs is key: if the existing ones shrivel and are also soft, this usually indicates over watering; if they are dhirvelled and hard, that can indicate wiht underwatering or inconsistent watering.

It's a journey.....an exciting, dynamic learning curve which is interactive. Trust your new focus and all the info it brings and also trust your developing instincts!

Default update to original thread

0k, I have removed the contaminated bulb and have repotted the orchid according to Onc. methods(backbulb to wall, and stabilized the one bulb), labeled and tagged plus entry into my Orchid journal.
This one is #17, no name as of yet.
it is now a week later and the only thing that has changed is bulb a lot more wrinkled and a little lighter, but its seems to be stable.
tablet going to die be back soon to finish.

As long as you remove rotted portion and keep the PERFECTLY clean healthy part, it will always rebound.

All the best!
