Default helping sick Vanda to recover .

Hi ,
i have a vanda which lost all the roots and started to die .. I cut the stem and treated the area with rooting powder and keep it dry and hanged it up-side down near the sink in my kitchen as it is quite wet area so it keep getting some moisture . I sprayed it every day then slowly it begin to grow a root again ..
so dont give up on vandas so soon ...

There is a nice thread on miraculous recovery on this forum http://www.orchidboard.com/community...se-failed.html

and it has worked wonders for me when everythig else failed. May I suggest you give it a try?

be careful not to press the moss around your orchid once in the transparent container of your choice and to cover enough of its stem to allow for new roots and perhaps try to put a layer of pebbles under the moss to allow you to leave a little water at the bottom for increased humidity?

Good luck you have a great chance of succeeding!

Vandas will push roots from each leaf junction so keep giving it moisture. If you can get some rooting hormone like KelpMax from FirstRays I think that would help too. Vanda leaves, like most leaves, breathe and absorb moisture through the undersides of the leaves during the day. A fine mist with distilled water would do much to help this vanda recover.
