Dosage for SucraShield?
I was fortunate not to have to mix it up in nearly a year, and now I have a mealybug infestation courtesy of a newly acquired plant. I can't find the instruction sheet, but I seem to recall something like 15 ml/litre of water (1 tbsp/quart). Does this sound about right?

I use it all the time, but I make it in smaller amounts for a spray bottle. The strict prescription is 6 mL in 500 mL of total solution, but I usually make it a little stronger with 10 mL and then fill my measuring flask to 500 mL. I use RO water to make the solution.

I have a 1 litre spray bottle, so looks like I'm using the correct amount. Have you had success getting rid of mealybugs? Mine keep coming back; I often find new ones the next day.

Sucrashield has helped me control mealybugs, but I had to resort to a collection wide treatment with Bayer 3 in 1 to stop a minor infestation of mealybugs and some scale in scattered plants. I then use Sucrashield as regular maintenance as I water/feed plants.

The recommended dosage is one ounce per gallon, or 7.8 ml/L.
It is a topical insecticide only, but unlike most toxins (SucraShield works by physics, not chemistry), it does kill eggs, larvae, and pupae, not just adults. If you are seeing new insects returning, you're simply not getting all of them when you treat.

Ray, I am sure that I increased the dosage somewhat because I saw that the modest number of mealybugs and scale that I had was controlled, but not eliminated. It may be that since I only used Sucrashield with each watering/feeding, which is about every 7-10 days for me in sphagnum moss, the application was not frequent enough. Because I water each plant individually, I am able to get careful coverage of the whole plant with Sucrashield at the sink. I assumed that Sucrashield would have some trouble with harder shelled insects like some scale?

SucraShield will probably nor work at all on the adult scales, as that hard shell protects them. It may very well work on eggs and "crawlers", but again, you have to spray them directly.
