brown around my cycnodes golden shower leaves
I have had this plant for about 4 days now when I got up this morning I found my leaves looking like the attached picture. It did not have them when I got the plant. It is un a East facing window with shade from the roof and a Giant Oak tree. When I got it I soaked it in Bayer 3 in 1 for roses, and cleaned all old media off and reported. Is this possibly sun burn? Or is it bacterial/fungal?

I think it may be fertilizer burn from the 3-in-1.

I was wondering about that. I usually use the neem oil version from bayer but home depot was out.
But It was so sticky I was afraid it was aphids in there some where. But as long as its not viral or bacterial I will be happy with trimmed leaves and no more 3 in 1 for a long while thanks for your help!

How long did you soak??
Chemical burn sounds like the most probable cause given the fact that you used chemical.
Even spraying can hurt some plants, but you soaked the plant!
Next time, spray on a small part of one leaf and wait for a couple of days to see if any adverse reaction occurs. Different plant reacts differently to chemicals.
Also, it is important not to apply chemicals ( I guess it depends on the chemical used) in hot and sunny weather. Keep them cool in the shade.
So you cut all those leaves off??

If the rose product has fertilizer, I would have to agree that it is fertilizer burn. Rose fertilizer is very strong and can kill plants that are sensitive to fertilizer. I would flush the medium really good to get rid of any residual fertilizer. If it loses all of its leaves, don't worry too much as cyncnodes tend to put up a second flush of growths.
You could always sprinkle the medium with Osmocote when it recovers. Good Luck!

If it is just from the sun and has stabilized, then you won't have to worry about anything more. I was concerned because I grow some plants that are sensitive to fertilizer. I've always stayed away from the stronger stuff with the orchids.

Just infected looking parts of the leaves still plenty of leaves. I used about a dime sized amount for 1 gallon of water. I soaked for 15 min pot, media and all up to the base of the roots of the plant (NOT entire plant). I then had to proceed to cut the plant out of the pot. Then cleaned out all old media then took my plant outside and gently washed it all over off with the water hose. To try and prevent any issues or lingering residue.

Well, unless plants look sick for sure, you don't really have to apply chemical (or is it fertilizer?? 3 in 1 to me sounds like killer spray, bugs, mites and fungus, isn't it??).
Even then, soaking is not necessary unless you have a serious root rot or something.
Even with spraying leaves, you want to test next time as you don't know which plants are sensitive to what chemicals.
I'm glad your plant still has plenty of leaves!
My Golden Shower was growing like crazy after the winter sleep, but then it got hit by rot at the base.
I could not do anything but toss. oh, well...
I want to try it again, maybe next year or if I see one in bloom in the fall.
and also I want to try cooperii but SVO sold them all out since like ever! lol
Good luck with your Golden Shower!
lovely flowers and fragrance!!!

I use the neem oil one usually and spray gently then rinse off to make sure there were no bugs. But home depot was out. New stuff new issues I guess.
It is a bact./fungal/mite/bug killer and preventer it also feeds.
Thanks glad its okay and something mechanical I can fix with proper care. Hope yours gets better. Another question is do these plants spikes get really sticky? Because mine are.

Thanks leafmite. I will most likely be using this on my outside shrubs from here on out.
