Default friend or foe because I really dont know....

Praise the lord we have had a week of rain almost!!! Our local lake is up 1.5 feet over all and all the tanks are running over been a long time since I have seen that!! HURRAY! KEEP IT COMING I SAY!

okay rain dancing aside. Lol. I knew with all the rain my orchids in my green house would be soaked from the screened windows being opened for the good air flow. They were soaking wet with a hint of rot on one phulb nothing major. But I found several of these little beatles bug things running through them and I am not sure if its a non issue or an issue.

Well it is a bug rather than an insect.

So should I be concerned will they munch on my roots or new growths? I've never had issues with these bugs before so I am clueless.

And hard to say for sure from the picture on my phone, but that insect doesn't look like a true bug. These pedantics are, however, perhaps, irrelevant to the OP.

Sorry.

It is a Sehirus Cintus or white margined burrower bug. Yes the eat plants, mainly of the nettle and mint family. Google it and see if you think this might be a problem. It might have been trying to get out of the rain.

Thank you. I had one plant that had about 4 come crawling out but I could not see any real damage. I have some thistle and mint growing from falleb bird seed not to far away that may be where they are coming from.

Keep an eye out for them. Adult females are one of the only bug with brooding instincts. They lay a zillion eggs and bring them food. Then the little eggs hatch, and you have a zillion microscopic babys. If the same adult feemale keeps coming around, most likely there are babies. This is not an urban myth, I read it on Wikipedia.
