Default Do thrips change color?

A couple years ago I had lots of African violets which got infested with thrips. The thrips would also go after the orchids, but they liked the violets better. I remember the thrips being white. So today I took one of my orchids up from the basement to display in my kitchen only to find the thrips had returned, only this time they were red, like the center of the orchid they were living in. So I am wondering, do they change colors based on their surroundings like some lizards, or did some red thrips evolve in my basement?

I don't know the answer, but it's possible there are different species of thrips that look slightly different to each other. Just a guess though

They do change of color along their life somewhat, but I've never seen they where adapting to surroundings…

Are you sure they are thrips?
