Scale Infested Burrageara

hi and help please.
My son brought me his Burr. Austin Powers Sweet Summer Morning to cure it.
It was really loaded with scale. Needless to say I put it in the quarantine area of my house first.
I have done everything I can think,of, starting with the green solutions, alcohol/Soap spray, removing the scale and egg cases I could see, (every day)', threw away medium and pot, washed plant, and roots, removed some leaves to get down to pseudo bulbs, repotted , and even treated with a commercial insecticide.
It seems to be scale free for the moment, however, the poor thing really looks the worse for wear and with scale I am never confident that it is "really gone"
I am looking for a replacement plant (because sometimes it best to just cut your losses, right.) however I cannot find a Burr. Austin Powers Sweet Summer Morning anywhere.
Does anyone have further tips for scale that I haven't tried and does anyone know where I might locate a replacement for his collection.

You really need a systemic insecticide for sucking insects like scale and mealies. I use Bayer 3-1. It has a contact insecticide as well as a systemic. You will need to retreat at least once at the interval indicated on the label. You can get any of the Bayer products at garden centers.

I agree. A systemic is needed and Bayer is the one I recommend too. Not sure if you have already done this, but using a pair of tweezers, remove any dry sheathing. Critters can lurk there. Although the leaves will not "heal", new growth will be clean if you can eradicate the critters.

Hi thanks ! The Bayer Advanced is the insecticide I finally bought and it seems to be helping on the Burr.. But the poor thing really looks beat up !
I will keep up with the treatments as you gave suggested!
Any ideas where I can purchase a replacement? I am only finding Burr. nelly....something

A word of caution on removing sheaths on oncid alliance orchids. The leaves come off fairly easily at the .....??? joint but do not come off easily below that and you can actually damage the plant if you try to forcibly remove it. They are much different than cattleyas and laelias. I'd leave them on and when you spray with insecticide make sure you drench the voids between the old shortened sheaths. Critters love to hide there.

You are right, and that is one
Of the reasons Inam searching for a replacement Burr. Austin Powers. I am afraid in a rigiriious attempt to save the plantbI may have damaged or stunted it.
