This is my first orchid that one time had a nice spike and blooms , after being concerned i pulled it from its pot since noticing alot of browning on the older bulb , but the newest one is going this way , any suggestions would be appreciated.

I watered once a week , but recently switched from spag moss to bark and perlite orchid pro mix , didnt think it would go this way so fast , what is the brown colour ?. could it be rotting inside the bulb ?. good thing i separated the division last fall and have another with 3 bulbs not browning , but roots slightly brown that are comming of the bulbs .

Encyclia cordigera often is miffy. It doesn't like to be disturbed in the rest period.
What happened is death by rot, starting from the roots. This can happen to an experienced grower as well.
Sorry, my suggestion is the trash bin.

Water, water everywhere. It's the major cause of death and disfigurement in the orchid world. More than all other causes combined.

I was sad today as this was my first orchid to purchase and a start to my orchid collection , it was hard to say goodbye I will learn to water less and just walk away .
