Large unknown bug on milt

I saw this large unknown bug climbing on my milt. It doesn't seem to be eating the plant, but it scared the crap out of me since I just repotted it yesterday.

Looks like some sort of beetle to me. Not sure though.

Hard to tell from the picture. Could be some kind of beetle or weevil, or could be an assassin bug. Either way it probably isn't causing any damage.

Appears to be a weevil. As far as I know it shouldn't harm you chid though they are plant eaters. To be safe you can always remove it and toss it outside.

I agree it is hard to tell, but it looks like a weevil to me too. I had a problem with them a few years ago, they were eating my flowers and leaves. I was going nuts because I couldn't find what was doing the damage. Then I finally decided it must be something that comes out at night. Sure enough after several nights I finally caught them chomping on my flowers! Luckily I was able to knock them into a container and squish them. I am attaching a pic of the weevil I had so you can see if that is what you have. Since then I have occasionally found babies during the day, but I hope none matured--I have not had the damage since. I would suggest getting rid of them, whatever they are.

My son (who is pretty good with insects, & wants to be an entomologist) suggests that it may be a soft-bodied flower beetle (species in the genus Listrus). They eat flower nectar and pollen; not likely to be too dangerous.

It is hard to be too sure from the photo, though.

It actually looks a lot like this. I was more focused on trying to kill it than try to take a good picture lol.
