I bought a new mini noid Phal. yesterday, and all seemed fine after a light perusal of the plant. Today, however, after a more thorough once over, I found something I am less than confident with in a new plant. There is some white/silver coloring on a small, lower leaf. It seems to be, so far, affecting only one leaf. It's a bit tight to reach so I don't know if it is powdery or not. What is it? How do I treat it? This little guy has 4 spikes on it, 2 flowering, 1 starting to bud and as you can probably tell, potted in sphag moss, and in a small ceramic pot from the store. I don't know how much I can do it while it's flowering.

All advice is appreciated. I tried going through the AOS links in the sticky, but I couldn't find anything like it.

that is simply a mineral buildup from the water where ever it came from, no problem...you might flush the plant next time you water, and of course, get it out of that moss and into bark soon as you can...I think someone posted that lemon juice will remove that, I am not really sure on it, and it is simply aesthetic not harmful...nice plant, good luck!

Thank you. I have thought about removing just the plastic and trying it in the open with the sphag for better circulation, but I don't know that I want to change anything just yet. I am going to wait for it to finish blooming before changing mediums on it.

Agreed, mineral build-up, no problem.
