cymbidium noid new growth rot? Female
Default cymbidium noid new growth rot?

hello, i got this cymbidium noid from meijer a few months back. about a month after i had it i decided to try semi-hydro on it. im sure i shocked it and maybe thats why the tips of the leaves are dying. but my question is. after i changed it to semi-hydro, it started growing a new growth. but today i noticed the growths newer leaves rotted at the base, inside the growth. this is the 3rd orchid thats done this to me recently. im still new to growing them and am confused as to whats going on. when i water i make sure not to get water on the leaves and specialy not in the new growths. so i dont understand whats happening. any advice would be appreciated :3

I'm not versed in S/H but don't know if this is a good fit. Cyms usually do ok with more moisture at the roots, soil, but too much will rot them quickly.

You can't expect much out of a plant if you transition it to sh out of active root growth. The old roots will eventually give up the ghost. I have cyms living in sh and are extremely happy and healthy. You have to have patience and wait for those new roots to begin growing. For cyms you know this when the new growths are already beginning to push their own leaves. Any time before that they're just a baby growth growing off the side of the spent bulb.
