Orange balls/bugs on phal's rotting roots?

I always thought this phal's flowers looked a little deformed, maybe it's because of the fungus? I chopped off all the rotten and potentially infected roots then soaked it in hydrogen peroxide and dried it for a day. Then I did another hydrogen soak. And now I'm going to leave it for a while and then heavily water and saturate the roots with the seaweed liquid I got, then pot it.

Hi. I believe they are a fungus, Fusarium solani. As sweetjblue said:

I found it tres weeks ago, what did I do? just change to clean media and clean very well the roots, for now I don't see not more orange balls, but every days check it, I hope so don't see it no more, and my phal lots 40 % of roots, I don't know why, she looks so healthy and now she is reblooming for me , I hope she continues this way...

"Fusarium species, a mold which causes disease mainly in plants has emerged as pathogen in immunocompromised patients. Fusarium is known to cause keratitis, onychomycosis, and endophthalmitis. Fusarium solani, is the most common isolate from clinical specimen. Here is a case, a 65-year-old male with type II diabetes mellitus since 10 years presented with a large ulcer on the left leg since 8 months following trauma. The fungal culture of the escar of the ulcer isolated a mold, Fusarium solani. The patient's leg was amputated and was treated with amphotericin B. The patient was discharged on healing of the stump. This case gives emphasis on fungal culture in chronic diabetic ulcer."

Thought I would post an update on this phal. I soaked it in hydrogen peroxide for quite a long time before potting it in a 3 inch plastic pot, bark, perlite, charcoal with sphagnum on top. The leaves are droopy because it lost so many roots, but it has lots of new roots growing. I spritz the top roots almost every day. I only water it the normal way about every week because it doesn't really have any roots at the bottom of the pot. I haven't seen any signs of the fungus on the roots. There are some purplish spots on the base of the crown, but I think that's just the purple pigmentation that you also see on the leaves, which in my experience means that the plant is in a sad state. But I think it will be able to recover with it's new roots. I haven't given up on it yet.

It looks like your plant is happy! The purplish color means that it is getting plenty of light, it is kind of the plant version of a suntan.

Holy cr*p!!! A man had to have his leg amputated because of a plant fungus.

I have fungal growths on my wood mounts. Some are actual mushrooms, some are just splotches. They don't seem to bother or infect the orchids, but should I be worried? And I recently saw some orange strands and small spheres on a willow branch on which I have two bulbo's. No harm done to the bulbo's - yet.

Oh, the temp and humidity vary a lot. I've kept it in an East facing window. According to my thermometer/hygrometer during the day the windowsill has been around 80 degrees F with a humidity of 30-40% and at night more like 75 degrees with 45-50% humidity. Normally the humidity is around 60% but it's finally gotten hot out and hasn't rained in a while so the air is quite dry.
