Orchids Leaves and Flowers Falling Off
Default Orchids Leaves and Flowers Falling Off

Hello,

My orchid was doing fine and blooming nicely. One day the newest buds (small and purple) started drying up so I decided it was probably time to water the plant. I watered it by letting the water run completely through the plant and allowed it to drain out the bottom.

The next week or so the remaining small purple buds fell off as well.

Within the past few days the entire plant started getting a really vibrant purple color.

Then suddenly 2 of it's leaves fell off and flowers are now starting to fall as well.

I've tried looking for answers online, but I figured it was best to come to you guys.

Please help!

I've attached pictures of when the plant was "healthy" it's roots now, and the color of the flowers and leaf that have fallen off.

I should note that today one leaf is starting to turn a bit yellow.

I think it looks like crown rot. I don't think you can do much about it at this point, maybe someone else will have some ideas.
This is caused by water sitting in the crown. ( The place where the leaves first appear ) good luck....Jean

I agree. It may send a new shoot from the base of the plant if you are lucky but it will take a while to grow to a decent sized plant again.

take it out of the pot and see what damage has been done, then maybe put into a ziplock bag and check every day that not too much moisture is getting in, this may revive it
