I would be more concerned regarding the pot it is in. Glazed pots tend to provide poor drainage unless there are several, or large, drainage holes in the bottom.
There are several alternatives:
- glazed orchid pot, which includes extra holes in the side or bottom
- unglazed terracotta (either a standard pot or orchid pot with extra holes)
- plastic orchid pot, with extra holes or slits in the side or bottom.
It is not impossible to grow in the pot you have, but you will need to carefully manage your water/moisture to keep the roots healthy (medium is watered when it is just barely damp). It is easier to keep roots healthy in a different kind of pot.
