What the heck? advice needed!
Default What the heck? advice needed!

So I left for a trip on Thursday. I watered all of my orchids before leaving, including this Maudiae. I placed it in it's usual spot, near a table by the sill with filtered light.

It is in high bud and was doing beautifully.

I come back home tonight, 4 days later to this on the leaves!

Any idea what it could be, and what I should do?

Are the brown areas soft? Does it or the media smell different (I have a freaky nose)? If so, its likely a bacterial infection. Remove the tissue, into healthy tissue with a sterile blade. Wipe the wound with at least rubbing alcohol (options include cinnamon concoction, ground cinnamon to seal).

Could be burn since it looks like it streaks across the leaves. I don't grow any slippers so don't know if that could lead to other issues.
