Fungus?
Hi Folks,
I have inherited a bunch of orchids and do not know much about them. Can someone tell me whether they have a fungus on them and if there is a remedy? I'm afraid it may have spread to some other orchids.

Hello! And Welcome to the OB! 
I don't see anything wrong with them, but the first one, I see a few black spots, on the p'bulbs and the base of a couple leaves... I don't grow Catt-types, so I can't really tell u what is going on with it, or if it's normal... Sorry. The other two look ok, tho. The last one, the spots that u see, on the leaves, are fairly normal... These types (Oncidiums & the like) just tend to get these spots, IME. |

spray physan 20 on pictures 1 and 2 to rule out bacteria. ..it is not fungus the rings on the pbulbs are black if it is fungi infestation it will be yellow rings on top of the pbulbs....the Onc. Twinkle is just fine and dandy....I see only cold spots from water droplets burned by the sun

Newbee, they need repotting. The laelia (LC) needs new media and should be repositioned in the new pot. The oldest back bulbs should be cut off too. The oncid in pic 2 needs new media and a little more room. the Oncid in pic 3 looks fine but could need new media. Can't see well enough but it is at the edge of the pot and could use a little more room. Twinkle is a nice one.

They are ALL grossly infected and you should immediately send them to me for treatment.  While they may not survive (probably won't)  , at least you can say that you gave them the BEST possible chance at survival!

Nice try but they wouldn't make it in Port Richey. But California is such a great orchid growing region I'm sure if they were sent out here they would make it. Poor things. |

^  you two are silly! If you sent them to me, they'd be much happier, lots of warmth, humidity, and nice beach breezes!
I agree with needing to be repotted... Nice to have you back James! 
And, actually, if you search James's threads, he has some good repotting tutorials on the OB, that are very helpful! |
