fusarium wilt in same dendrobium again?

Hello,
I decided to replace my den Pixie Princess that I had lost to fusarium wilt. I repurchased it from the same vendor I used for the original one last week. Today, I finally was able to repot it. It lost most of the roots when I rinsed it under the tap. It does seem to be sick. Any advice? Can I soak it in some Physan and repot or should I return it to the vendor. [I have never returned a plant]

This is your new plant? That looks awful. I would email the vendor your pictures and tell them this is not acceptable. You want a healthy plant to enjoy not to have to nurse to good health. If you are sure that your diagnosis of fusarium on this plant is correct I'd mention this as the second plant you received from them. Some vendors require you to return the plant at your cost so be prepared for some pushback. If your vendor is reputable, they will try to make amends.

umm just re read the post, if you got something bad from this vendor once...I would definitely call them or take it back either way...

I'm looking at my pictures from my phone so it's a little hard for me to see the cuts you made clearly, but there looks to be some rings on the stem and I can tell the roots aren't in very good shape. If there is fusarium in this plant the only thing that will save it is cutting off the infected area, Physan won't do the trick. There are some chemicals on the market to fight against fusarium, but they are expensive and strong. If it is fusarium it can spread through your entire collection.

IMO, if there's fusarium in the plant or your gut is telling you to take back the plant then you should. Good luck!

It looks like the purple plague for the pic. You should take it back. I would not waste my time with that vendor. There is no r.o.i.

If that plant came with roots looking like that, I would be so mad and call them right away!

You should get a healthy replacement or money back.

By the way, don't bother soaking in physan because it won't do a thing against fusarium or anything that spreads inside the tissues.

Physan is not systemic. but even as a surface cleasing, I find it useless anyways.

I would contacnt the vendor and explain since this happened twice already.

Thank you for the advice. I did not know that Physan would not help with fusarium.
I cut back to a 2 cane division and isolated it. I purchased it on sale....I think that I will not be purchasing sale items from this vendor or any vendor.
