Vanda Leaf Issue- Urgent Help Needed Male
Default Vanda Leaf Issue- Urgent Help Needed

I bought this Vanda Pachara Delight at a Lowe's on Saturday, but the last couple of days I have noticed a rapidly spreading white area on multiple leaves, which has only seemed to get worse in the last 24 hours. I am debating taking this back to get a refund for the plant tomorrow, since I have the day off, as this is becoming an issue.

What is causing this? I have a bunch of vandas, but have never seen this before. I also did a bunch of research yesterday on potential causes but nothing seemed to match. I thought it was from overwatering at first, but I don't really water it more than once per day, and the heat index here has been around 100F or more.

Really appreciate the opinions, because if this is a serious issue I'm just going to return the plant. I like the plant, but if this if fatal I need to get my money back.

looks fuzzzy (and I'm blind as a bat). But could it possibly be shock or a form of sunburn..

It's a little fuzzy, yes, but it's basically white patch marks across a bunch of the leaves. Now I'm noticing some darker patches in those areas as well.

As a precaution I moved it to a spot that gets a lot less sun, hopefully that reduces the problem.

If anyone else thinks it's something more severe than sunburn let me know. Otherwise it seems perfectly healthy (roots and all).

you must gradually introduce orchids from indoors to outdoors ....or you will get sunburn....these plants were greenhouse and store house bred in lesser light than what you now subject it to....of course it will burn its leaves....
*you can never overwater Vandacious plants especially if they are in a basket or mounted....a couple of members in your grow zone water their Vandas in baskets everyday even if your atmosphere have high humidity and moisture.

....spray it with physan20 until it is drenched to rule out fungi infestation that follows with any sunburn on leaves.

Lowes has 60 days notice for returns, if you can get a better looking plant then by all means exchange it. I also notice there is a flower spike on your plant, I don't know if it is about to open or it has already spent its blooms.

Looks like sunburn/shock. Do u keep under a shade cloth or any other natural shade. The placement of the plant has a lot to do with it also.
