1mm white bugs
Hi
On the surface of my CHC on my Sarcochilus hartmannii I have found some bugs slowly wriggling, but only after watering. They are white hair thin and 1-2mm long. I cannot see any on the plant itself, but they might be attacking the roots down below.
They also congregate in the holding dish underneath.
Any ideas?

Since they are so small I am thinking white fly and white fly larvea?
Maybe zap them with a 3 in 1 systemic like bayer for roses, just make sure that they don't have a fertilizer.
If you prefer all organic they also have one with neem oil, it smells GOD AWFUL!! So spray outside and early during the day and not in direct sun it will burn the leaves.

I am not sure then, I have fought spider mites, land white flies on my large exotics.
I think the bayer or neem would still work in this case though if you think they are causing harm to the plant.

Probably springtails.... Do they jump sometimes? They r harmless...but indicate its time to repot b/c they like damp, decomposing media (soil, really - which is what decomposed bark turns into)
...they are about the size (& shape) of fleas

No jumping. I have put a picture in the first post. They seem to have little legs and two antennae.

Not springtails, as they are silver, fast-moving, and sharp-oval in shape not long skinny sausage like these little white buggers.
Whatever they are, I would manually kills them upon seeing them. lol
Soaking the entire pot in the hot water (in the 35-40) for a while usually kills many things without hurting the roots.
