My mom shipped this vanda from Puerto Rico. The leaves had some brown spots but now leaves are turning yellow. I'm using daconoil (just started today) but i don't k ow what to do since this is my first vandal. I don't have it close to my other one so they don't get sick also. Any suggestions, feedback?
Also i don't know how often should i water this plant. I live in Maryland so the weather at night is getting below 60 degrees at night. Should i leave it out or in?
It is wrongly potted for your grow zone. It will develop root rot. Maryland is humid in the warm months. You need to hang it outdoors bare root under a tree where it is given bright filtered light and air flow and when it reaches below 50's put it indoors....but put it in a basket this time lined with coconut fibers and then curl the roots inside then that is when you sprinkle the roots with that kind of mix....but let the roots breathe. Water it in the morning and then early afternoon this time then two weeks before frost comes put it inside on the brightest windowsill. It is severely banged or was cramped in a box while in transit. The leaves have a lot of mechanical damage and folds. Winter indoors water every other day and at all times weekly weakly fertilizer. Hopefully this plant springs up alive and blooms for you soon.

do not use that oil....your plant is not sick it is only dehydrated, confused and shocked=that Vanda was used to outdoors in Puerto Rico then now it is in a darker room and put in a potted media mix situation....go figure! mimic the environment that this plant was given while growing then try to provide it if you can....and then let it get used to your environment
Yes, I agree with Bud. Way over-potted (esp for a Vanda)
And, Jesse did u mean Daconil (instead of Daconoil? If so, Bud, that's a fungicide, not an oil. But, I'm not sure if you need it anyways... The only damage I notice is mechanical (being in a small box would make sense). Just do as Bud said, and let it adjust.

It also depends what type of Vanda it is as some are more cold tolerant than others. Below 60F sounds a bit cool to me if it has a lot of the more warm loving such as Sanderiana in it.
right now, Baltimore, Maryland is 80F to 90F in the day and 60F to 70F at night so you can still put this Vanda outdoors until the weather changes to 50's at night and hang it indoors in a bright window....Puerto Rico in its coldest gets to be mid 40's....but you don't want to stress your plant since it is already in so much stress....
the fungicide is fine to rule out any infestation that it might have encountered in PR and lay dormant until it reached Maryland....I read it as an oil and I freaked.....it will burn leaves if exposed to the sun that's why I only use neem oil in winter....
Good Luck ! Your vanda is alive and it can only take up to so much abuse but since you are caring for it....it will bloom for you soon....it is a five year old blooming sized plant.
Thanks all for the replies. I'm using alcohol with cinnamon as fungicide for now. I hanged outside bare roots and water 2x a day. I really want to save my vanda since this is the first one! My question is, how and how often should i fertilize it? I'm using jack classic for the other ones and working great.
