The bush snails that the OP is showing often come with the plants so unless you have grown all of yours inside from deflasked plantlets you can still have them.

David is right, looks like the same bush snails that have invaded my orchidarium. The problem with them is that they have no interest in slug/snail bait or any of the traditional approaches to capturing them like beer. Only harsh chemicals will eradicate them.

so how would you know you've got snails? Most the time I repot my Orchids into bark when they've come in moss.

I try to do a "snail patrol" each night around 10 pm. Out I go with my flashlight to look at each plant carefully. I knew my D. secundum had the little pests and sure enough, the first night, I found 7 on just that plant. EEK
Altogether I think I found over a dozen that night mostly on the Dends. I cannot use the snail baits because I mist my plants every day but I think I'll use the carrot (or potato) technique and see just what I find. Thanks for the suggestions.

As other members pointed out, these little snails hitchhike into our houses. These are very common.

Funny thing is only the orchids in bark has these bush snails.

You can tell you have them by nightly patrol.
They are usually nocturnal.

They also come out of the pot when you soak the pot in water for a long time, I would say longer than 20 or so.

When the infestation gets bad, you will see new roots of your orchids eaten up. and this is actually how I first found out about them. New roots on my dendrobium were being chewed up by something but I never found out what, until one evening I saw these little ones sitting and eating the roots.

I do the nightly patrol too.
Even when you do not see any, which is usually the case after hunting them down for one or two nights, using the veggie slice, you can get more of them out the pots.

Leave one slice or two on each pot after sunset and check every half an hour or so until well into the night.
You may be surprised by what you find.

I've previously received a mounted orchid which had these on. They were promptly located and squished.

Helix Aspersa or the common garden snail. You have to be vigilant to control them. They come in on our media and the eggs can live for over a year in bags of media. But Sluggo Snail bait will get them every time. And it is safe to use around the house.

Ya, those guys are easy to deal with. The bush snails from the picture are the exact opposite though!

Never seen a snail that didn't love Sluggo though. Buggetta Snail and Slug Bait is good too but dogs love it along with the birds.
