snail/slug bait ... sluggo or other iron phosphate type - lower toxicity, safe for pets, hopefully other wildlife, but definitely works against snails and slugs

the product I have is called "Slug Magic", I think ... was less expensive than Sluggo, but works

Thanks for the additional suggestions, folks. Looks like i have several good options to try.

Yes..I wish I had room for ducks. I hear guinea fowl love slugs, too. Just don't have the room for those kinds of critters, though. I'm afraid I'll have to stick with chemical, not biological, warfare. :-O
