I use the liquid Bayer 3 in 1 Insect & Disease Control. I find that it works well on all soft bodied insects, and will even take care of scale in it's larval stage.

Bayer makes a ready to spray product in a spray bottle. If you only have a few orchids this would be the best way to buy it.

If you buy the concentrate, it should have the proper dilution rate but you will need to keep it in a very stable environment so it doesn't break down.

The ready to use liquid Bayer (like David suggested), what is the best way to apply?

I would wear some dishwashing gloves so that I can hold the plant and spray it from all angles. Outside with a breeze blowing away from you or inside holding the plant in front of a shower stall or bathtub. Spray enough so that the plant is thoroughly wetted to the point of spray dripping off the plant then place it somewhere where it can drip and dry for an hour or so.

I use Bayer 3 in 1 for insect control. I just follow the directions, I believe it's 5 tbsp. per gallon. I spray it on the leaves and water the potting medium as well. I rinse the leaves after 20 minutes with plain water. It's a great product but you will likely have to repeat the application 2 or 3 times, 7-10 days in between applications.
I always spray outdoors and in the shade. Maybe gloves and mask is not necessary but I prefer being overly cautious with pecticides. Good luck.
