Brown Spot on Complex Paphiopedilum: what is it?

Saw this brown spot on either side of a leaf on a new growth. The plant is Paph. villosum X Paph. Hitachi Venus. I thought originally it was sunburn or something, although it is grown under lights so I didnt think that was the case. Then when i was watering I noticed that the brown spot had a darkened ring of green surrounding it. Fearing the spread of disease I carefully cut the leaf below both spots using a disinfected straight edge razor and used cinnamon to help dry the wound.

I'm wondering A) if i did the right thing and B) if anyone can diagnose this. I would hate to have it spread to another plant.

Looks like it might be erwinia to me, although it usually starts closer to the crown.

Anytime you see brown patch with watery halo around it, be VERY alarmed as it is a aggressive rot.

You did a good job trimming the affected area away but I would have cut more.

I personally do not advocate so much about the effectiveness of cinnamon powder. It is almost useless against some strong pathogens.

Keep a close eye on this plant.
If you find the plant valuable to you, it might be a good idea to use something strong.

What ligh setup do you use? Strong natural light combined with a good general culture usually keep serious diseases away unless they are otherwise introduced by neighboring plants that are already sick.

Another thing I noticed is that in your first photo, the leaves have some water on them.
Do you always mist or water over the whole plant like this?
It is generally not a good idea unless they dry out in less than one hour.

Plants are under T5 lights. I dont usually mist the plants but they had just been watered when i took the picture. They usually dry pretty quickly.

I'll make sure to keep a close eye. What would you recommend using in addition to the cinnamon?

Spores of pathogenic fungi may spread to other plants nearby.

Any commercial fungicide should be fine, but when I see rots, I spray something with sulfur or copper in it.

If you can, maybe expose this plant to natural light, at least in the morning hours if you can.
UV is the best killer of anything I believe.

Also, grow a little dry (not drying out as doing so is not good for paph roots) for the next few weeks.

Rots usually appear when there are too much moisture with high or low temperature depending on the pathogens. but too much moisture is the common factor for any rot disease outbreak.
