black areas on catt leaves

Could someone please tell me what these black spotty markings on my catt leaves are? Three leaves are affected and look basically the same. When I looking through my orchids today in order to decide which are ready for a repot, I found the problem then. I haven't noticed it in the past, but I could have overlooked it, of course.

Guignardia or brown rot. Maybe fungus. But at this stage and as fast as this seems to be progressing, as you just noticed it assuming you water frequently, get rid of it now. Not tomorrow. Now. At least isolate it far away from all your other orchids. I am one who goes the extra, extra, extra mile to save an orchid. But this one should be tossed. Sorry. Your call but I'd toss it.

Ah, brown rot. Thank you, James. I appreciate your help. I found a tag afterall, slid down the side of the pot in the medium. I have another orchid same name as this one. It blooms very well and often, so I'm not as hesitant as I was to toss it...especially after what you said. I've decided that the chance of infecting others is not worth keeping it.

If you have another area where this can be grown, well away from your other orchids, you could keep it and hope the ailment doesn't progress any further. You could try an antifungal systemic on it. I have saved some catts with a similar looking ailment. What you are trying to do is arrest the fungus/bacterial infection with the hope of getting new growth unaffected by it. But if you don't have anywhere to grow it, then your best bet is to toss it. Sorry.
