As long as it's the one formulated for roses it won't hurt orchids. Obviously you will not want to spray the flowers. Several people here use it. It's active ingredient is imaclopitrid. I think bugs develop resistance to any insecticide. That's why it's important to use different ones.
I have also ordered some Sucrashield from Ray. We'll see how that works.

I have a couple of Phrags that don't like the Bayer, no problems with any others. I also use Neem and Volyk oil spray. It smothers the adults and babies.
I have had success with Bayer 3 in 1...the trick is to treat every 7-10 days for 3 applications.
One of our Orchid Society members who also owns a local orchid nursery had a terrible scale infestation 2 years ago. He eradicated it by the Sevin spray, applied every week.............for 10 weeks !!! He won the war

Hi - can you tell me how the phrags reacted? Did the bayer get into water source/roots? I know my phrags are super sensitive to their water, so I'm wondering if the bayer would be OK if I was to be very careful to just keep it on the leaves. I'm looking to use something proactively with my orchids and was considering a monthly spray of the bayer BEFORE I have a problem. Thanks.

Terri - I ordered some also. Can you let us know how it worked for you, and any suggestions you have on using it?
