Default My Catt....dying??? :(

Hi,
I was watering my catt yesterday, I noticed these marks on one pbulb...can someone gimme an idea what they are and how they can be countered? As the photos show, the plant is growing four new roots, so I am taking it wants to live. But what those marks are?

Might have had some moisture trapped in/under the brown sheathy material. Are those dark spots firm, or soft? If firm, probably don't need to worry about it - but keep an eye on it to be safe

I agree with WhiteRabbit. It's a good idea to carefully strip away those old dried papery bracts at the base and up the pseudobulbs. It is a place to harbor moisture and pests. If you have an antibacterial or fungicide such as Physan it wouldn't hurt to treat it. If it is soft and mushy you should cut it out to healthy tissue and treat the wound with cinnamon powder or sulfur powder. I've had the odd one like that and it didn't spread or turn mushy.

I agree with the previous posts. You have some nice healthy looking roots emerging. Remove the dried coverings of the pseudobulbs. Let the plant get completely dry between waterings but drench the plant really well when you do water it. Good luck.

The fact that a few new roots are coming forth is a great thing. Regarding the dark area on the plant, I have no clue.
I'm sort of new to cattleyas (been growing over 2 years now but) and some of mine have some weird marks here and there. but plants seem to be fine. so far the scales have been the big headache for catts and after one year of battle, I ended up dumping my blue catt. I will buy again in the spring. lol
Now I found one white scale on my white catt. not sure what to do. So far, other than my mini catt and on Lc coming back to bloom now, catts are driving me crazy!

I think I see some white stuff on your catt's pb, but not clear enough to tell what it is.
Is it part of dry fibers on old pb sheath or possibly white scale infestation??

could even be mechanical damage, if not fungus related, but not fatal. The new roots indicate good health.
