Default Pseudobulb chewed up- Dend. Capituliflorum

Here is the picture . Something chewed up the base area facing wall . Plant hangs from a high branch of a Plumeria tree , far from the wall. I am not aware of any rodents but do have squirrels around but this happened overnight, and there are no grasshoppers etc yet. I am thinking of enclosing it in a net.I applied some alcohol to reduce infection. Is there anything else I can do to help the psedobulbs?
Would these pseudobulbs bloom? Should I cut them off?
Hoping to get some help, I would love to see blooms.
