Default New Cymbidium orchid has black spots on leaves

Long time reader, and regrettably my first post is about a potential orchid problem. I got my wife a cymbidium orchid for valentine's day and the instant I brought it in from the car i noticed some small black spots on some of the leaves. I never can see blemishes in the store it must be the low lighting. To me it looks like it might be fungal but I'd love some second opinions. Thanks!

From what I see in the photos, your "black spots" appear to be nothing more than minor mechanical damage. Otherwise, the plant looks healthy. If fungal or bacterial infection are present, so usually are yellow rings around the marks.

You are like me, when I see even the smallest of any spots, I get nervous.

With that said, your cymbidium is the cleanest looking one I've ever seen!

Too often, I see beautiful cymbidiums, and up close, I see those subtle viruse mark on the flowers and dark spots or streaks all over on many leaves. with many tips drying brown and stuff...

Then I gently put them down and quckly rub my hands with alcohol or wash my hands. lol

Thank you Cym Ladye and NYCorchidman! I have to admit that I am rather paranoid with my orchids and always pleased to find out that I'm just worrying too much.

Its a happy healthy plant. You are looking at some cold water dark spots. When you leave droplets of cold water on the leaves and the sunlight strikes it: it will be a magnyfiying glass effect on the leaf and burn the spot ....even if it is on the windowsill; a few minutes of sun will do it
