How to spray fungicide?
Hi, I just bought fungicide by the brand of zinacol(zineb), the instructions say to use 20grams per 10 L water. How do i measure 20 grams in a teaspoon and do i really need to mix 10 liters of it i dont have so many plants? Should i spray in the morning or evening? Do fungicides smell bad generally?

It is hard to say how many grams in a teaspoon. Presumably you bought a container with a specified weight of the zineb powder, you could calculate or otherwise determine the volume occupied by this known weight of powder and then use that to calculate how many grams are in a teaspoon.
Zineb has a thiol component so it will likely be a bit stinky. I have used Mancozeb which has the same thiol component and it stinks a bit.

Certainly there is no need to prepare 10 liters, you could prepare a half liter with 1 gram if you can measure the 1 gram.
I usually spray all my insecticides and fungicides late in the day.

20 grams = 4 tsp
4/10=.4 tsp or 2 grams per liter
I mix with my irrigation and water as normal. Just don't water miday.

Are you speaking specifically about this product, Keith, or generally?
A teaspoon is a volumetric measure, and a gram is mass. Unless you know the bulk density is one gram per milliliter, that relationship doesn't hold.
I haven't calculated any recently, as David suggested, but as I repackage a lot of materials, I can see that their densities vary all over the map, lot to lot in some cases.

That calculation was done using the fact that a teaspoon, which is a volumetric measure, holds (4.93 ml) about 5 ml. So one teaspoon of water would weigh 5 grams. This could be significantly incorrect for powders.
But for Zineb, I guess that it wouldn't hurt to be off by as much as a factor of 2, so the teaspoon measure could be OK if you really have no way of calculating the actual density.

I see that there is evidence that exposure to these metal dithiocarbamates such as maneb and zirm and so presumable also zineb and mancozeb in combination with paraquat can contribute to the development of Parkinson's disease.
I use a pesticide applicator's type, dual cartridge mask when applying pesticides and then immediately shower and change clothes but perhaps I will stop using Mancozeb. I don't like it any way since it is stinky. Today I plan to apply Heritage DF fungicide.

Thank you. So i used around half a teaspoon per liter, it appears to be odourless.
