The newest growth on my Blc Cherry Suisse has these black raised bumps and also the base of the leaf where it is emerging from the sheath shows a spot of rot. The bumps are about 1/8 inch in diameter. None of the other leaves on the plant show this. Not knowing what it is I sprayed with 1% copper octanoate. Any ideas as to what this is?

One of my catts has that too. One of the leaves have similar bumps when I first got the plant. They never changed though so I wasn't worried. I would guess they are some sort of scars from insects? Or possibly edema?
I have been spraying that plant with 1% copper octanoate and I think that the condition is improving. I think that tonight I will spray my collection with Mancozeb.
Some of my catts and laelias showed the same condition but it never infected any other plants. It could be insects or fungus but I hesitate to spray everything unless they too showed symptoms. Just wait and see if this spreads. The condition never spread in my nearly 400 plant collection. And anyone who has seen the pics of my greenhouse conditions knows how vulnerable my plants were.
As a side note, I have recently been spraying 1% copper octanoate on any of my catts that present black spots and they seem to tolerate it with no adverse affects.
