Ok, that's good to know, Jarad! At least it is possible to have a virus free environment within the seed pod!

it's possible, but not guaranteed. There is always a risk, especially if the virus integrates within the gametes.

I'd strongly advise to test before, in order to know which virus is at stakes, if it is a virus. You can encounter these circles in some fungi too… (Cercospora) Difficult to be optimistic but…

On the big guy here, I'd try same as proposed, and I'd cut the leaves with the visible circles, in case it's very located and limit the spread be it a virus or fungi (spores would come out of the brown zones).

Anyway, I strongly advise to see the pdf of Dr Ching-An Chang
http://www.icogo.org/images/Dr._Chin...id_Viruses.pdf
There's hints on the location of viruses in pods and what can/can't be done. It's not for the faint of heart to save a plant genetics…

Well, for now, I'm pondering regularly the charts to extract bits of informations… But yes, too bad we don't have the whole conference.

Orchid virus knowledge is rather edge fundamental and applied science, when something really new shows up, it's worth reading.

STAUG and AOS websites are worth reading too, really. Even if the latest cutting edge knowledge isn't there yet, for this forums are big helpers.

If the Phal is infected by CyMV, propagation using meristems will provide a clean clone. If it's ORSV it'll be difficult. If it's not a virus…

Lepetitmartien, merci beaucoup pour le lien au pdf! I try to collect all the information I can get about potential problems.

And upon closer inspection of the virus pictures I think I am leaning more towards a potential Cercospora infection. Then again, the only picture of a cercospora infected leaf that I saw that matched mine was on the aos.org site and I only found it searching for cercospora directly thanks to your mention of it.

I tried to cut all infected leaves out, but found more chlorotic spots on other leaves and the whole plant ended up looking so miserable I finally threw it away I think it's time I start a Physan preventive treatment solution at certain intervals. For sure, I'll make sure I never drip water on any plants again. Now pot, blade and saucer are all being disinfected. Not taking chance on either virus or fungus anymore.

My poor fasciata's death will not be in vain! Thank you all for your input
