Leaf spots of Jumellea arachnantha Male
Default Leaf spots of Jumellea arachnantha

I have noticed that the plants of this species usually have such leaf spots. The spots always on the old, terminal end of their leaf. A friends said that it does not affect the growing and blooming of the plant.
Have you ever seen such a condition?

I see similar on some Oncidiums. The caretaker of the Missouri Botanical Orchids collection saw one of mine and at first thought it virused or something. After she examined it, she told me that some hybrids and species tend to do this when they get the right or too much light. It's genetic in those cases. Not sure about this one though.

Thanks. I also worry that my plant is virused. As for the oncidiums, i know that they are easily virused and they also commonly have leaf spots due to bacterial or fungal infections.
Mine is a newly arrived plant and now i have separated it from other plants.

It's also common in Oncidiums without virus or bacteria which is why I wonder if it may not be the same with yours. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in on this.
