Is there a home remedy I can use for a small scale infestation?

For a small infestation, you can kills the little buggers with your fingernail and/or wipe with isoproyl alcohol (the kind from the drug store).

Be sure to remove any "paper" sheathing and look underneath for anyhidden bugs. You'll need to keep after it and inspect frequently until you are assured that everyone has vacated the premised.

Also be sure to put the plant in "isolation" so as to not infect any other plants..

spray with the original listerine mouthwash and after fifteen minutes use a butter knife to scrape the scale off....
then spray with a mix of:

10 drops dish soap
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon mix
2 cups tepid water

* make some more to soak the pot for five minues to kill the eggs

repeat the next week or until there is no more scale infestation

(harmless to humans and pets....it kills flies and mosquitos on contact)
