OMG; Diagnosed thrip problem - Orchid Board

False spider mites, no web as some make , they love Phals

the hatch cycle is short have to treat every 3 days Safers insect soap will kill them but what I have found to really do the job is the (again) Bayer rose insect slow release granules . I use them on my Phals. twice a year no mites and does
not damage the plant . Gin

When I go back to Boca Raton for Thanksgiving I intend to go back to Home Depot to look for the Bayer & Ortho product lines.

Malathion works well on mites and most other insects so you might want to look for that too. It seems quite easy to find as well.

Methylated spirits work too if you don't have many orchids. And you can just wipe down the leaves with it using a small paint brush.

The recommendations that I have seen say to use only 70% isopropyl alcohol.

Methylated spirits is a term not used in the US but I believe that this means denatured ethyl alcohol. If so then using methylated spirits is counter to the recommendations that I have seen.

Interesting....Well this is what I am told from One of the largest orchid nurseries in Thailand.... Idk to be honest.
