Mystery orchid has brown spots!!! Please help!

Sorry to chime in late, just seeing the post for the first time. I agree with Silken in that this plant looks more like an Oncidium than a cat. The small spots look like bruising/damage previously done to the plant by maybe something like thrips (check for small black insects crawling around - you can see them but barely). The dark bulb to me looks like it has been sunburnt and I would leave it alone if it has nice healthy roots from it. Good luck and let us know how you make out!
