Default Possible red spider mite attack...

I have this phalaenopsis violacea x Sogo Tris that seems to have been attacked by red spider mites, not sure what to do, anyone got remedies that do not require buying special chemicals and such?

Hi , Safers soap will get them, if you can't get it try to find some super fatted soap we have one called Basis it does not have perfume in it is unscented make suds in a spray bottle , if you can't find that try some rubbing alcohol 70 per cent no stronger it is sold here over the counter , if you can't get that, try a couple drops of dish soap in water , any remedy for mites should be used 3 times at 3 day intervals . Rinse leaves well between times of use as any of these remedies just kill the mites it hits, even after thinking they are gone wet a piece of tissue and run it across the under side of the leaves if there are orangie smears they are not gone . Hope this helps a little . Gin

Gin you nailed it...the only thing I do differently is use a mineral oil, hort oil (volck oil or Sunspray) with your above suggestions.

I'm not sure if I've eradicated the spider mites in my phalaenopsis, there are some reddish marks on the leaves but when I wipe them with wet tissue there's no residue.

On the other hand my dendrobiums are getting affected like mad, too lazy to clean for days so I just went *snip* *snip*. Sucks to have spider mite problems now.
