I've had no roots on my smaller phal for a week and a few days and they haven't grown any more and now they are all black, my larger isn't much better, it has one good root above the moss that i grow it in and when I took it out it looked bad. what can I do?

The bag method Dendro King mentioned should work. I would also make a weak rooting hormone solution and soak the whole plant in it for about half an hour. Once you take the plant out shake off all excess water, making sure the crown of the plant is dry and place it in a bag like Dendro king said. You may have to open the bag from time to time to let fresh air in. Keep an eye on mold and fungus growth, as it can kill your plant.
Good luck.
