Help ! Fungal spot, huge vanda, lost the growing portion :(
Hi,
I had seen a fungal spot on the top leaf of my healthy growing vanda, and while removing (sharp knife) the fungal spot, I damaged the active growing portion.
Anyway, I treated the cut portion with mancozeb, but worried about the growing portion.
Please suggest me how to make it growing again ..
Help!!

I'm not sure what you mean by 'the growing part'? If you've damaged the main stem of the vanda, the plant will probably form a keiki in order to keep growing. Just care for the plant as usual. I've started using fungicide more often on my vandas because I have more trouble with fungus on them than with other orchids. I don't cut off the affected areas though.

I would use a plastic blunt knife on removing scale infestation on vandas but if it is just fungi; you wipe it with listerine or hydrogen peroxide...
do not worry the plant will grow a basal keiki or form a new leaf on the topmost tip of the plant

Thank you for the moral support!
That was the most beloved Vanda for me.. It has got 3 feet good roots and putting all new roots and growing fast. And its 2 feet plant, overall 5 feet and more :|
I signed bit relief, when I seen a growing leaf hidden.. waiting to grow outside, I plucked the leaf that was affected, and it brought me another leaf.. I thought it was the new growth. Anyhow I will care as usual, as you suggested.
Need your inputs regarding Fungicide, Can we spray fungicides on leafs of Vandas??
I follow monthly schedule with Mancozeb (first week) and Carbendazim (after 10 days of Mancozeb) and Physan 20 after a week of Carbendazim on roots only.
Thanks once again.

Pictures would be nice.
How do you know its a fungi infestation?
Sometimes a dark spot is caused by cold water drop that dries in the sun and causes a lens efect that burns a dark spot on the leaf
If there is nothing wrong with the plant ...do not keep on spraying chemicals... just wipe the leaves ...no need to spray the roots and leaves if there is no infestation...those chemicals that you plan on doing on a weekly or day to day basis are not preventive measure or coating shields...only if you really find fungi then you apply chemicals... if there are none just leave your vanda alone...too much fussing will kill your plant

Bud, Thanks for your reply. I started using them on suggestion from a grower.
I am more interested to find the preventive Fungicides. Can you please suggest any such fungicide/chemicals to keep the collection safe.

Another Vana affected.
Another Vanda got affected, this is also putting new turgid roots. This time, I touched leaf and it dropped the leaf.
Please see the Picture. And suggest

That actually looks like it may be black rot. Since you don't live in the US you probably don't have access to the same fungicides. I think you should find a gardening supply store or a big plant nursery and ask them recommend a locally available fungicide. Apply it once, then again a week later, and then once a month during the wet season. Good luck.

Please suggest me the name of Fungicide, I would import them or get through the relatives/friends.
Physan is already with me.
